Fort Mose Booklet 1992

This is a 36 page booklet that tells the history of the free Black settlement Fort Mose (pronounced “moe-say”). It’s dated 1992.

The full name of the settlement was Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose and it existed from 1738 to 1763 during the Spanish control of Florida. Fort Mose was the first free Black settlement legally sanctioned in what would become the United States.
