Shrine of the Water Gods by Carita Doggett Corse is a small publication that tells the story of the Silver Springs area from the mythical past through the mid-20th century. There are seven editions in the collection ranging in publication dates of 1935 to 1956.
The first edition in the collection (1935) may also be the first edition of the booklet. It appears that the 1935 edition may not be directly connected to the Silver Springs attraction, however it does reference the attraction. Subsequent editions include photos of the attraction and presumably their production involved Silver Springs directly.
Below are the covers of each edition in the collection as well as additional pages to show some of the differences: The 1935 edition includes a bibliography and notations by the author – items the other editions lack. The 1938 edition and subsequent editions include a question and answer section that the 1935 edition doesn’t have. The 1944 edition includes additional text. The c1954 edition includes two new sections: Silver Springs Today and Carriage Cavalcade.
Carita Doggett Corse also wrote a booklet for a St. Augustine attraction titled: The Fountain of Youth and Ancient Indian Village and Burial Ground. Published in 1937, it can be viewed here.
