Ford Times magazine, February 1976. This magazine features a terrific article on Cedar Key, one of the many places in Florida that is both “in the middle of nowhere” and a wonderful destination. Ford Times was a magazine produced by the Ford Motor Company and was provided to Ford owners.
The best part of the story of Cedar Key is that more than forty years after this article was published, not much has changed in the town. There has been no significant development and it’s still a sleepy place with some interesting sites for the casual tourist who is willing to go so far off the beaten track that they end up sticking out into the Gulf of Mexico. It’s a great place for seafood, watching the sunset, checking out the unique history of the area and sitting around chatting with locals.
