The Citrus Tower was completed in 1956. This brochure is undated, but appears to come from that time. Built on Highway 27, it was at its most popular within a few years of the opening. The Tower was built around the same time that Florida’s Turnpike and Interstate 4 were being constructed. The Turnpike does pass fairly close by, but it’s all too easy for vacationers to pass right by without stopping.
As seen in the brochure, the Tower had an open observation deck which today is closed. Only the lower of three decks is currently open. Other than that, the Tower has changed little, though none of the additional attractions in the brochure exist, at least in the versions shown.
