An early photo book from the turn of the 20th century. It measures 3.5 by 5.5 inches and contains 12 photo pages that are 2.75 by 4 inches. The booklet shows scenes along Florida’s east coast including pineapple production and an ad for the Florida East Coast Railway Co. The book was designed to be mailed and includes with a postcard format on the back.
Pineapples were a successful commercial crop in Florida from the 1890s through the 1910s. It took cold weather, disease and competition from Cuba to eventually kill the industry.
